On our most recent trip to Powell Botanical Gardens, we ventured out to view a rare annual sight…The Butterfly Festival! This annual festival is a long anticipated treat by local Kansas Citians. This experience was a first time encounter by many of our residents at Greenbriar, and it sure didn’t disappoint! While in the tropical butterfly enclosure, we saw two Blue Morphos hatch from their chrysalis and we all attentively captured the the graceful gliding of the butterflies encircling us as we walked through the tropical greenhouse enclosure. The whole experience was calm, meditative, and thoroughly relaxing. Many of the residents shared the same sentiment as resident Alta Short who said, “this place is so tranquil and serene…I think I could spend a whole day in here and never miss anything else I could have done with my time.” It was definitely an experience we won’t soon forget.
