The residents recently made a trip to the Hallmark Visitor’s Center to tour and view an exhibit of poster art from the Hall’s family art collection. The exhibit featured the poster art of such creators as Toulouse-Lautrec to modern day artist Shepard Fairey. The exhibit taught us a lot about the advertising form of the poster and the mass production qualities of poster printmaker art. In addition to the exhibit we also got the opportunity to learn more about the artist of Hallmark Cards and the Hall family’s impact on the art world and greeting cards. All the residents were in agreement that the Hallmark character, Maxine, is there favorite embodiment from the Hallmark shoebox greeting card line. This sassy-sharp witted senior is full of follies and laughs. Our favorite highlight was the life-sized statue of Maxine created by Hallmark artists. Our art-full and educational adventure was one that the residents won’t soon forget. Looking forward to our next visit of Hallmark’s ever changing attractions and exhibits.
