The gang took a little day excursion to Fort Scott, Kansas just last week and explored the history of this quaint and charming Kansas town. We toured the Victorian era homes of the town and also stopped by the Twin Lyons Mansions to have a hip and farm-to-table dining experience at Nate’s Place inside the sprawling Victorian Mansion. The food was a hit with the residents, but at an even par with the ambiance of the ornately carved fireplace mantles, spiral staircase, and all of the detailed wood craftsmanship of the rooms. This was a thoroughly immersive experience for the residents. Conversations of Downton Abbey and Agatha Christie filled the dinner table and imaginative time travel took place in our minds as we thought of life in a house like this from a by-gone era. Following our delightful lunch we toured the town and perused the many antique stores and drove by the historic fort that comprises the town’s name. It was a blast on our summer day trip. The residents are looking forward to our next summer day excursion!
